At Sunday's Global Communion Service on April 7th, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome DSc. DSc. DD shares an important insight as he declares April to be the month of “ Intercession ”.
Pastor began by highlighting Romans 8:26-28, which underscores the idea that God stands with us in our infirmities, empowering us to face adversities together as one force.
Furthermore, drawing from Luke 10:39, the example of how Lord Jesus understood Martha's mind, it illustrates how the Holy Spirit aids believers in times of distraction, enabling them to maintain composure and achieve their goals. Additionally, Pastor elaborated on the importance of praying in alignment with God’s perfect will. God makes intercession for the saints according to His will, indicating that whenever you pray like this, you know all things work together for your good because you pray through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
He took us to Colossians 4:12 providing us with an example of someone who prays with this understanding. Pastor talked to us about the benefits of interceding for others, highlighting the importance of shifting focus away from oneself. He shared a profound insight: "God will make happen to you and for you what you make happen for others."
In Genesis 20:17, the man of God highlighted how sometimes in a situation, God guides individuals into certain spiritual principles that aid them. Abraham's prayer for Abimelech and his wife resulted in them bearing children. Subsequently, God visited Sarah, and she received a miracle. In Job 42:10, it was emphasized how the Lord restored Job's fortunes after he prayed for his friends. As a result, God blessed him with twice as much as he had before.
During this month of Intercession, it's crucial to organize yourself, your schedule, your groups, and your churches for prayer. Plan and prepare for intercession by giving attention to the needs of others. Be genuinely concerned about what others are going through. Through prayer, make a firm commitment to effect changes both in your own life and in the lives of those around you.
